Wow what a nice get away I had. I flew to CA on the 16th for my friend Laura's daughters wedding. I went by myself. Mike encouraged me to go and I resisted. I feel guilty leaving my family behind. I have to interject though that Mike does not, difference between male and female. I am so glad I went. I rented a car @LAX and drove around my "home town" of Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo. It was so neat that everything is exactly the same!Lots of choices for food!!! I hit some of my favorite spots. The cost of housing is out of this world but everything else is the same. I was very nostalgic. I feel like I could live there again and really would love for Katie to experience it there but....The traffic was horrific. I then headed out to Hemet where Laura lives. It was a 2 hour drive but very nice really. I think I am like Stephanie in that I like to drive because it clears my head.
Laura had a play opening on that Friday and the Wedding was Saturday evening. A garden wedding. It was 65 degrees and clear. It did get chilly after the sunset. We stayed very busy every minute. Laura and I were able to spend time together in the mornings working out in the gym and sitting in the Jacuzzi. Then it was full speed ahead. I really stepped outside of my box going there. On Sunday I left early and got to the beach at noon in time to enjoy lunch at the beach. Heaven. I really hated to come home. I felt like my old self again. Not old as in age. I felt like my young self again. It seemed wherever I looked at the beach everyone was fit and healthy. Riding bikes and roller skates, surfing, skateboarding, walking. It was inspiring.
Laura took me to the "Smiley Library" in Redlands. Kid you not!!!
Albert and Edward Smiley started it in 1891. This site has a gallery of the entire library.

I knew I loved the library for some deeper reason. It's genetic!
When I got home it was 32 degrees. Skies were clear and beautiful. There is a different feel here in the winter. I want to hibernate I think. Probably what we are suppose to do.
I know my family missed me because they never made it to the grocery store. Ha ha. Back to my domestic duties.
I am glad to be blogging again. I did lots of writing in my journal while I was gone so it took me awhile to come up with this!
Life is Good!

I am Jealous! I miss California, I think I will go there in February. I'm VERY proud of you for going by yourself! lol You are my hero and I'm glad you had such a fun time!
Love & miss you very mucho!
I am so glad you got out of your comfort zone although I am a little concerned that you went to the gym while vacationing. That is just wrong! I guess you redeemed yourself with the In-and-Out burger. I still think about that trip Steph and I took to visit you when you lived there and it always makes me smile! I am glad you had a good time! Love you!
I want to go with you the next time and I definatetly want to go to the Smiley Library. That sounds too cool. Where exactly did you go? I'm a little cofused about that.
I am still waiting for a blog about your ski mishap! I hope you are ok! Scary!
